Spiritualization of Self
Imagine rehearsing for months a complex Shakespearean play, complete with poesie, romance, and betrayal, only to purposefully forget all stage direction and lines before opening night?
How would you muster the courage to go on stage, finding your lines and expression on-the-go, improvising where needed, and surrendering into the flow of muscle memory when you could finally let go, and successfully express your character and story on stage with ease..
Would you walk away from the experience of a different person?
Would you feel and exude confidence when the lines simply came and you felt at one with your part?
Would you question what part of you began to remember the tone and cadence of your voice during that act, during that scene, during the final rush of pageantry from the stage?
These questions are much like the ones every seeker poses when rebirthing the spiritual self.
What part of me is timeless? Who am I beneath the projections I conjur? Which part is the real me, released in unguarded expression?
In January 2021, roughly one year after the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic, collected data from the NPD BOOKSCAN1 indicated a 63% jump in book sales on body, mind, and spirit within the first few weeks of January '21. Not self-help books, which were ahead 30% in early January garnering some expectancy given the devastating impact of the pandemic; but 63% was specifically for book sales on body, mind and spirit.
How can we as a humanity embrace the process of spiritualizing self, giving birth to the truest version of ourselves for greater peace and strength? What untold secret vessels of consciousness do we carry within us, seeking expression on our stage, imparting coherence for body, mind, and spirit?
The simple truth is that we hold this ability already dormant within us. It shows itself in dreams, meditation, moments of silence, and simple pleasures of existing as human beings. It began when we willingly entered into a life as a human to discover our birthright of knowing self, yet feeling the central, collective tie to universal consciousness. The pathway of discovering this eternal truth within us lies at the heart of joining the body, mind, spirit and indeed, soul. The key is to understand that this lies wholly within self, ready to connect and inspire us to unfold our unique creative expression; the highest gift given to human beings. Why is it that meditation, sitting in silence, and applying spiritual truths to be tested and tried in the story we create of ourselves is the highest way? It simply is an opportunity to remember, as in doing so we learn to express that first Logos, that first spark of divine creation. It is not remarkable that these secret codes have a unique blueprint for which only the individual or self has the key? And that the road to fully embodying our ideal comes first from observing, understanding, and then sculpting our higher self?
In 2013, the world-famous House/Techno group, Daft Punk, had their first No. 1 Album on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart, entitled "Random Access Memories". One chart-topping song, was titled "Beyond", co-written by Paul Williams and the French two-man duo, represents how music is a powerful channel, often providing one of the strongest frequencies for connecting to our eternal self. When one listens to the lyrics, whether intentionally seeking or simply enjoying, it is clear to see the changes ushered in by the Zeitgeist. To see the messages rolled into such mass cultural appeal, solidifying the understanding that as our time is fully transformed and changed from the inside out–the first divine spark, woven into our biochemical vehicle called the body, remembers our true essence and is ready to call it forth from the recesses of our consciousness:
"You are the night
You are the ocean
You are the light behind the cloud
You are the end and the beginning
A world where time is not allowed
There's no such thing as competition
To find our way we lose control
Remember love's our only mission
This is a journey of the soul
The perfect song is framed with silence
It speaks of places never seen
Your home's a promise long forgotten
It is the birthplace of your dreams."
Notice that the lyrics seek to express what is the birthright of every being--to remember the eternal place from which we came and the opportunity to spiritualize the self once again, in the pursuit of bringing forth by light that which is eternal.
