Have you ever experienced a place or feeling so vividly that you had the distinct feeling of somehow knowing you had previously encounter that situation, person, or feeling? Or dreamt of a place or person you had never visited nor known consciously, yet somehow, you can recreate every detail or nuance with accuracy? These experiences demonstrate the diverse situations we as inviduals set out to experience, however frequently as needed, in order to learn certain lessons or to master certain emotions.

Many contemporary and historical teachings focus on the development of the soul as a means of gauging purpose, living a spirited life, and understanding our condition as human beings. Regardless of the dedication shown to meditation, spiritual living, mindfulness or the like, there is one ever-present point of development and that is the growth and expression of our inner essence. While we do seek success in a material world, the age-old adage still rings true evermore as in yesteryear:

We are spiritual beings having a human experience—not the other way around.

Often it is those times which seem to challenge us from all corners, that we beging to feel the most growth, however painful or trying that experience comes to pass. Indeed, some of the greatest tests of relationships, materials woes, familia ties, and the like, perpel us in a manner which often is not characterized by bliss or a feeling of security. An yet, these lessons in limitations offer up the best mirror in knowing who we are, how we handle testing situations, and ultimately, how we build wisdom in expressing an attitude of higher perspective.

We are an amalgamation of personality, acquired through living in certain socio-economic situations, past experiences, and many experiences in the outer world. Our soul, in contrast, is the inner, higher voice accessed through meditation, dreams, and other forms of connecting to this spiritual self. Through good or bad, thick or thin, the growth of our soul takes the work of our mind and our heart, forever learning and expanding our own indivdual, higher consciousness.
